31 Days to a More Organized Life : Day Six : Kitchen Drawers

Welcome to day six in the series! If you haven't been following along, you can see the days you missed by clicking here.
Today I'm sharing how I organized the drawers in our recently renovated kitchen. We took down two walls in the renovation and lost a lot of space where upper cabinets used to be so now we mostly use large drawers. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves.

This is our new kitchen! You can see the before and after shots here.
On the kitchen side of the island are three smaller drawers and four gigantic drawers. The only drawer not pictured is the miscellaneous (aka junk) drawer because it is under construction and will be featured at a later date.
Silverware and regularly used utensils.
Baking tools, measuring cups/spoons, etc.
Pots and pans for daily use.
Extra pots, pans and baking dishes.
Plates, bowls and glass tupperware (apparently we have a lot of leftovers so most of the storage dishes are out of the drawer. Keeping them in the plastic bin helps prevent them from falling over and keeps the lids in order.
The kids drawer is on the bottom so they can reach it themselves. Plates and bowls get the round bin. The two white plastic bins (all from dollar store) hold cups and food storage containers for lunch bags and outings.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing how we use large drawers instead of a pantry. Thanks for following along!

  1. i need to do this. AGAIN! Gosh do our kitchen drawers get to be a mess and FAST! do you use liners in your drawers? I do and in some of the drawers they just drive me nuts because they are the foamy ones that slip when things in the drawers move around.

    1. I found a great plastic non-slip liner that comes on a roll at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I just measured the inside of the drawer and cut it to fit. It keeps everything from sliding around and never moves.
